The habit of toothbrushing

For Clinicas Udemax it is of vital importance that from childhood the habit is created to avoid these situations.

Bleeding and tooth mobility are the gateway to gum inflammation and infection. Parents of our youngest patients should guide them in the first months of brushing to get them used to the mobility of the wrist and the handling of the toothbrush on the teeth. Toothpaste should not be given to a young child to prevent them from swallowing it because of its good taste.

Excess intake can cause intestinal disorders and if ingested regularly, the fluoride it contains can be detrimental to health. Fluoride in moderate doses is very good for teeth, but too much in extreme cases can cause dark stains on tooth enamel.

Brushing among adults is growing in Spain, although consumption is still lower than the European average, both in terms of toothbrush purchases and toothpaste tubes per person per year.

On the other hand, with regard to our patients of the Clinicas Udemax who are adults and smokers, it must be said that tobacco tars are fixed in the mucous tissues of the mouth and have been shown to be carcinogenic. It has also been shown that they reduce the antibodies in the gums surrounding the teeth. These two factors, which are of great importance for the health of the individual, can be reduced if we manage to create a habit of cleanliness.

Toothbrushing is a hygienic habit that, apart from preserving our oral health, helps us to better withstand the harmful effects of smoking and sugars.
