Periodontal disease delays the possibility of pregnancy.

At the annual meeting of the European Society for Human Reproduction, the Smile study was presented, indicating that periodontal disease (pyorrhoea) makes it more difficult for women to become pregnant.

This pathology caused a delay of seven months in conceiving, above the average of the five months established as a general rule.

It was also noted that the negative influence of periodontal disease is similar in magnitude to that of obesity.
