Dental floss or interdental brush

Hilo dentalLast August, one of our most loyal readers on Clinicas Udemax ‘s social networks asked us a question that seems to worry many of you: which is better, dental floss or an interdental brush?

We tell you our answer to such a delicate question:

We don’t think there is a more effective method than dental floss.

It is true that recently a series of complementary products have appeared that can help to maintain good oral hygiene. But, in addition to the complements, the use of dental floss allows the removal of dental plaque adhered between the teeth without affecting the delicate teeth at all. However, interdental toothbrushes have a metal intermediate piece that, if not used correctly, can erode delicate teeth.

Another advantage of dental floss is that it is single-use.

Interdental brushes, being more expensive, are often reused more often than they should be. This reduces their effectiveness.

At Clinicas Udemax, we advise you to use the technique that best suits you. And, if our patients prefer to use dental floss, we teach them how to use it correctly.

On the other hand, if our patients prefer interdental brushes, we advise them to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and not to reuse them more times than recommended as they can cause injuries to the teeth.

If you have any other questions, we will be happy to answer them.
